On February 28, 2005, like "Dragon Ball" and "Dragon Ball Z" before that, Dragon Ball GT was released in the Dragon Box format covering all 64 episodes of Dragon Ball GT along with the TV Special Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy. The two TV specials and the Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku OVA released with the 2003 versions have not been re-released. While the packaging and DVD menus are different from the 2003 release, the audio and visual quality is the exact same as those discs found in the 2003 Dragon Box release. Also included with the set was another "Dragon Book", and an exclusive Piccolo action figure. In late 2005 the Dragon Box Z DVDs were re-released in single volumes with six episodes per disc, for a total of 49 separate volumes. This set also contained a large amount of DVD extras including more commercials and the entire Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku OVA. A second Dragon Box (Volume 2) was released on Septemwith the same price tag as the first one, and included the remainder of the Dragon Ball Z series, episodes 148 through 291 and the second TV special. The set also included an exclusive Son Goku action figure, as well as a reference book on the series called the "Dragon Book". It also included a large amount of bonus features such as comparisons of international versions of Dragon Ball Z and several commercials. The set spanned half of the Dragon Ball Z series, containing episodes 1 through 147, and the first Dragon Ball Z TV Special. The first Dragon Box (Volume 1) was released in Japan on Maat a price of ¥100,000 ($841.15 US or £429.62). This set included the entire series, spanning 153 episodes, and came with another Dragon Book and an exclusive World Martial Arts Tournament diorama designed by the creator of the series, Akira Toriyama. I watched the blu-rays and i was impressed but i still like this version better for multiple reasons. On July 7th, 2004, the original Dragon Ball anime series was released in the Dragon Box format. enemies & friends and some awesome info and images. This is the best version because it makes an awesome images slide show trough the boxes when aligned and i t has booklets explaining the whole DBZ universe in details. it took me 3 years to find a perfect copy of dragon box set 2 to finish my collection. This set is discontinued and is more rare years after years. The box sets have the full frames as originally aired on Japanese TV. These box sets are the best out there, made from the original Japanese box, the frames are not cropped and is FULL SCREEN Best quality there is, better then the Blurays for only 1 reason, all though the blurays frames where remastered and some reconstructed and enhanced the frames where centered and zoomed sometimes, which we lost part of so frames. I watched every version there is about Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT and Movies and OVA and much more. ![]() ![]() release OST for Dragon Ball Z.hey, I like switching between the two! Again, this is Dragon Ball Z as it was meant to be viewed (thankfully, I still have the other restored volumes). The only thing missing from this format is the U.S. That leaves us waiting for the rest to be released, although the price difference shouldn't be too mu ch in the end.Īn extra bonus is that the DVDs are encased in a hard back style, including the episodes guide. version has the entire Saiyan Saga and the first few episodes of the Frieza Saga. are a bit different, as the Japanese version was released with half of the series and the U.S. Sadly, the Dragon Boxes released in the U.S. They are also completely un-cut and include the complete opening credits, ending credits and episode previews. Dragon Ball Z Dragon Box Volume 1 is an awesome collection of restored and un-cut goodness from FUNimation, supposedly for the "hardcore DBZ fan"? Why, you ask? Apparently, the recently released volumes of the Dragon Ball series was cut slightly different and as a result it is not presented in the original 4:3 aspect ratio (also the color is slightly different).
